Reading a report

How a report is organised, what the insight levels mean, and the honesty rules behind every section.

Every lookup produces one report, assembled live from external data sources and SubnetHistory's own archive and checks. Sections appear when the subject has data for them. An address lookup leads with the address and its covering block, a prefix lookup with the block, an ASN lookup with the network profile.

Insights come first

The top of the report is a short list of plain language findings. Each is a claim followed by the evidence behind it, and each carries a level:

Reading the output

• Unsampled is not clean. Space nobody sampled is shown as unsampled, never as green.
• A gap is not a zero. A month with no observations is a gap in the chart, not a quiet month.
• Contested marks a claim one feed makes and another feed denies.
• Quiet marks a proxy confirmed earlier that no longer answers, with the date it was last seen serving.
• n/a means the field has no value. It is not a value of zero.
• Long lists carry their true totals, so a preview is never the whole list.
