Routing and RPKI

Whether the space is announced, by whom, and whether the announcement is authorised.

Registration says who holds the space. Routing says what is announced.

Announcement status

• Announced. Whether the covering prefix is in the global BGP table: yes, no, or n/a when no routing source answered.
• Prefix. The announced prefix covering the address. It can differ from the registered block.

Origin

The autonomous system originating the announcement, with its holder name. Multiple origins are normal for anycast and worth attention everywhere else. The origin history shows every AS that has ever originated the space, not just today's.

RPKI validation

RPKI records which AS may announce a prefix.

Unknown means no ROA, not a bad announcement, and carries the no RPKI quality tag.

• More specifics. Smaller announcements inside the covering prefix.
• Less specific. The larger announcement above it, if any.
